Cookies & storage

How Priestley uses cookies and browser storage — and why we do not show a cookie banner.

Last updated: 9 July 2026

Do you need to accept cookies?

No cookie banner is shown on Priestley in v1. Under UK rules (PECR and UK GDPR), we only use storage that is strictly necessary or clearly functional for the service you request. We do not use marketing, advertising, or third-party analytics cookies on the public site.

If we introduce non-essential cookies in future (for example analytics that require consent), we will add a consent banner before they are set.

What we use today

Browser local storage

Theme preference. If you switch between light and dark mode, Priestley stores your choice in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. This is a functional preference only — it is not used for tracking or advertising.

Server-side logging

Search query logs. When enabled in production, Priestley logs search queries and technical metadata on our servers to improve quality and for admin audit. This is server-side processing — it does not rely on a cookie being placed in your browser. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Third-party connections

Google Fonts. Priestley loads fonts from Google’s servers to display typography. When your browser requests those files, Google may process technical data (such as IP address) according to its own policies. We do not control that processing.

We do not embed social media trackers, ad pixels, or similar tools on the public Priestley site in v1.

Admin area

Staff accessing /admin receive a session cookie required to keep them signed in. That cookie is not used on the public search experience.

How to control storage

  • You can clear local storage for this site in your browser settings.
  • You can block third-party requests in your browser; fonts may fall back to system typefaces.
  • For broader privacy rights, see our Privacy Policy.
